At the beginning of softball season this year, Erica was NOT enjoying herself. This year was just not the same as past years...she seemed to dread going to practices and games. We had several discussions about not quitting something in the middle of it...if she chose not to play next year, that would be fine, but she would be finishing THIS year.
Then something happened...her coach decided to try her at catcher. I was a little surprised, given that Erica seemed a little timid about it (and given the fact that the percentage of balls that were going past her seemed a little high to me!)
BUT, she persisted and I am so glad! We could not be more proud of our little catcher... for sticking with it and for the way she improved. I have no idea if she will want to play next year or not...but I DO know that this season taught her some lessons for life.

Erica,
I thought you were an awesome catcher. We have all commented several times around here on what a great job you were doing. I personally thought it looked hard! You caught the ball great and you had awesome throws when there was a ball in play. We're proud of you and thankful for your hard work.
